Typing away this morning as we are both attempting our very best to dig out of emails...sitting in front rolling waves of the Pacific Ocean from our hotel balcony. Yesterday we awoke to seeing kind reviews on Vinous.com where wine critic Antonio Galloni gave us great scores on our 2015 Helluva Pinot and our 2014 Thorn Ridge Pinot Noir. It's all happening!
Yesterday afternoon we drove up to the Mendocino Coast while multi-tasking along the way through some of the most scenic drives in California Wine Country. We promised each other this year to truly enjoy this journey together, happy to report that we are and that it's not easy at times. Any small family business is filled with highs and lows, but our business is so very personal. The new fans we are making in the tasting room and meeting in the Anderson Valley have given us such a lift in our days.
Last night we ate dinner on the coast at a sweet little place called Wild Fish that our Seattle friends Shannon and Seth told us about last year. Right as the sunset had it's final glimmer across the ocean waves a couple walked in holding a bottle of Smith Story Chardonnay. Our eyes lit up and we couldn't help smiling straight through the rest of dinner. Such a pinch me moment for us! The lovely couple had visited our tasting room last weekend and we all had a great time tasting our lineup together. It's these little moments...
Now off to a big wine trade tasting next, looking forward to meeting our fellow Anderson Valley winery neighbors and wine pros around the Mendocino Coast!
